This exceptional 'Nedundu' slit drum is large, with pure geometric forms of great elegance. The generous curve of the drum flares out and ends with pointed ends extending the handles. Geometric and zoomorphic motifs made with brass nails add to the artistic beauty.
Nedundu' drums were attached to the king's court, their main function being to bring the community together and take part in festive or ritual ceremonies. They could also be presented as gifts to prestigious visitors.
