MANNEQUIN. Soldier of the Garde Nationale consisting of a dark blue cloth kepi with garance cordonnets, metallic number 8 indicating the 8th battalion, embossed leather inner cap, leather visor (sewn back), black cloth tunic with garance collar and piping, collar braids in white braid (simplified model with missing roundels) of the model introduced in 1852, pewter buttons of the National Guard with the cockerel (not in conformity for this type of tunic, they should be with the eagle), inside sewn name label: "Jules ARBELET, caporal aux carabiniers volontaires du 17e bataillon", bluish iron grey trousers with garance side stripes, belt with model 1845 plate, contemporary boots. All presented on a mannequin. Wear and tear, a few moth holes, minor restorations. Circa 1870-1871. ABE
