History :
Arriving from the Palatinate in 1778, Nast took over a porcelain factory in rue Popincourt in 1783. The following year, he moved it to 70 rue des Amandiers-Popincourt. He pioneered a new technique for applying gold to relief decorations, for which he registered a patent in 1810. He also developed new colours such as the chrome green known as Empire green, created with the chemist Louis-Nicolas Vauquelin, which could withstand very high firing temperatures.
