An elegant manuscript copy of a rhetoric course given by the Jesuit Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy (1706-1782) at the Collège Louis-le-Grand. The volume includes a calligraphic title, 233 pp. a full-page handwritten algebraic table and [5] pp. of table. It is enriched with an engraved frontispiece and 25 out-of-text portraits of orators and writers engraved by Desrochers. Bound in red morocco with the emblem of the Society of Jesus. Discrete restorations to the binding; a few stains and light rings.
