Italy or France, 19th century. Based on a model by Gian Lorenzo Bernini (1598–1680).
White marble, carved in the round. Bust portrait of Cardinal Richelieu (1585–1642) with the Order of the Holy Spirit.
H 85 cm.
Base with losses, chips, scratches. Traces of dirt.
Provenance:
The Arlette and Antony Embden Collection, France.
The original marble bust by Bernini, created in 1640/41 on behalf of Cardinal Richelieu, is in the Louvre in Paris (inv. no. MR 2165).
