Marcel MARLIER Martine - Volume 22 Martine, little rat of the Opera Gouache, pencil, ink and cut-out on a printed background enhanced with gouache and ink for a drawing reproduced on page 20 of this album published in 1972 by Casterman. The design was cut out and pasted onto a larger sheet of paper. Martine's front foot and the cat's back legs are outside the decorative box. The character of Martine has been used on the covers of numerous editions, including Martine, Petit rat de l'Opéra and Vive la danse. Minor marginal soiling, a trace of old adhesive at the top edge of the sheet, not affecting the drawing. Size of drawing: 17 × 18.5 cm Sheet size: 30 × 20 cm
