MARCHAL - (candles) Lithographed sheet metal circa 1960. -Very good condition. 45,8 x 37 cm . In 1923, in Pantin, on the outskirts of Paris, Pierre Marchal founded the "company for the manufacture of projectors and electric lanterns, candles...". Returning to his garage one evening, he spotted the eyes of his black cat gleaming in the shadows in the beam of his headlights. That's how he came up with the idea of using this vision as inspiration for his logo and slogan: the famous cat mask with phosphorescent eyes and the slogan: "Je ne prête mes yeux qu'à Marchal" ("I only lend my eyes to Marchal").
