This circumnavigation, led by Étienne Marchand from 14 December 1790 to 14 August 1792, led to the discovery of new islands unknown to previous navigators and to Cook. The work is of great importance as far as Oceania is concerned: it contains vital observations on the navigation of the Great Ocean and gives a large number of topographical, geographical and astronomical descriptions, as well as interesting notes on the customs and habits of the islands. The atlas consists of 16 PRECIOUS MAPS (Sandwich Islands, Strait of Entre Banca and Billiton...). Freckling, small scattered light rings, well executed restorations to headpieces and hinges.
