Martine BOILEAU (1923-2007) The three cousins Proof in bronze with brown patina. Signed and justified 1/8. Circa 1993 Fondeur ; Centri - or 36 x 27 x 22 cm Fragility to one of the uprights Note:This work is referenced under number 1993-10-1/8 in the catalogue raisonné currently being drawn up. The work of Martine Boileau (1923-2007) spans some sixty years, moving from almost classical realism to lyrical abstraction, rare in sculpture, before returning to dramatic figuration; her work ends with a premonitory vision of the upheavals wrought in our daily lives by the excessive immersion of the mobile phone. Martine Boileau has used a wide range of materials: she has worked in wood and clay (often resulting in bronze castings, which she has always reworked); she was one of the first artists to use resin in the 1960s, and one of the first to use polychrome resins. To find out more about the artist's life and work, visit Martineboileau. net. We would like to thank Caroline André, the artist's daughter, for this additional information.
