Masako (Sato), born in Tokyo on 2 December 1941, studied interior architecture and industrial design. After studying at the Beaux-Arts in Tokyo and the Arts-Déco in Paris, she created the first kinetic paintings: moving paintings based on coloured discs lit from the inside, which create disconcerting optical effects through transparency. She also created "Dessins-poèmes" with enveloping lines delicately coloured1. She also creates "automatic writings" on rolls of paper and collage.
