FEMALE FUNERARY MASK IN POLYCHROME STUCCO
Egyptian art, Roman period, circa 2nd-3rd century AD
A stuccoed and painted mummy plastron mask, depicting a woman with pink skin and black hair, her hands resting on her chest, holding a garland with her right hand. She is wearing a pink drape and is adorned with a bracelet and two rings.
Restoration and missing parts.

This type of hollow-moulded mask was placed over the face of the mummified deceased. During the Roman period, it replaced the pharaonic masks, along with the portraits painted on wood.
