MATCHED PAIR OF BYZANTINE GOLD EARRINGS WITH AMETHYST AND PEARL PENDANTS.

A pair of gold earrings, each formed from a circular hoop of round section with three small loops along the lower edge. The outer loops suspend drilled amethyst drop-shaped beads on fine gold wires. The central loop supports a pendant composed of a short spiral of wire attached to a flat, pointed plaque and finished with a single spherical pearl at the tip.

Provenance: Private London collection; previously with F.A., Brussels; Belgian collection formed between the early 1970s to the early 1990s.
