MATCHED PAIR OF BYZANTINE HIGH KARAT GOLD EARRINGS WITH ENGRAVED CROSS PENDANTS.
Ca. AD 900 - 1200 A matched pair of gold earrings, each composed of an open circular hoop of round section with three suspension rings along the lower curve. Two rings on each hoop support thin bell-shaped plaques. The central ring holds a flat cross-shaped pendant with broad arms, engraved on both faces with chevron patterns. Size: 51-53mm x 21-25mm; Weight: 6.43g. Provenance: Private London collection; previously with F.A., Brussels; Belgian collection formed between the early 1970s to the early 1990s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
