In-8, spotted calf, large plain calf frame bordered with cold fillets with fleurons at the corners and a fine roulette around the central rectangle, ribbed spine, spotted edges (English binding of the period). Fourth enlarged edition, including 15 engraved plates, 8 of them folding. Henry Maundrell (1665-1701) was chaplain in Syria for the Levant Company from 1696 to 1701. His travel account, which has become a classic, contains "the first description of Baalbek by an Englishman" (cat. Blackmer). It was first published in Oxford in 1703.
