Liebermann bediente sich hier der Aquarelltechnik, um seine Eindrücke schnell notieren zu können. Zusätzlich raute er das Papier an manchen Stellen auf, um die schäumende Gischt auf dem Wasser plastisch darzustellen. Liebermann used watercolour techniques here as to quickly capture his impressions. In addition, he roughened the paper in some places in order to plastically depict the foaming spray of the sea.
