Mayemba is a Congolese artist who trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa. He began his career at the national television station as a cameraman, before going on to earn a degree in decorative arts. Despite his young age, he quickly established himself on the Congolese art scene, organising solo exhibitions and taking part in international fairs, notably in Lausanne in 1975.
