MAYNEVILLE. Chronicle of the time that was the Jacquerie. Paris, Romagnol, 1903. Large in-8, red morocco, wide mosaic floral border bordered by 2 double gilt fillets decorating the boards, ornate spine, pink satin lining and endpapers with gilt floral embroidery, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine (Blanchetière). Edition illustrated with 40 compositions engraved by Carlo Chessa (1855-1912) after Luc-Olivier Merson. Edition of 500 copies, this one of 50 on Arches vellum containing 4 states of all the plates. A pleasant copy in an original binding signed by Blanchetière, decorative and neat. From the Maurice J. Lachard library (with bookplate).
