Attached is a medal depicting an allegory of Alsace and Lorraine, which belonged to Charles de Gaulle before the First World War.
Historical background:
By family tradition, this medal was given to the General on 15 August 1970 in memory of his wound at Dinant, received in the lower leg on 15 August 1914.
Today, a statue of the General commemorates the place where he was wounded.
