[MEDICI BINDING] GUICCIARDI, Horatio (16th century). Ingegnose, et vtili considerationi sopra Virgilio, Catullo, et Horatio. Mantua: Francesco Osanna, 1593. Beautiful armorial binding, probably of Ferdinando I de' Medici (1549-1609) to whom the work is dedicated, Grand Duke of Tuscany from 1587. The work is present in only 4 Italian libraries (OPAC) and there are no listings at auction (RBH). 4to, (225 x 167mm). Woodcut mark to title page (some occasional foxing). Contemporary full morocco binding with the Medici arms in gilt on the boards, red morocco inserts in the corners decorated with racemes with birds and lilies, gilt title to spine (later gilt title).
