MEDIEVAL MERCHANT'S SILVER SEAL RING Ca. AD 1200 - 1400 . A silver merchant's seal ring with a flat sectioned round hoop that enlarges on the shoulders to form a bezel. The inscription on the bezel depicts a stem comprising a symbol of a barrel and tools. The stem is surrounded by a frame of pseudo inscription and flanked by two stylised wings of feathers. Size: D:17.12mm / US: 6 3/4 / UK: N; Weight: 6g. Provenance: Property of a London gallery; previously acquired at the art market in Vienna; formerly in an Austrian collection formed prior to 2000. This piece is accompanied by an authentication statement by Sami Fortune, ancient jewellery specialist.
