MEDIEVAL SILVER RING WITH HERALDIC SYMBOLS Ca. AD 1200 - 1400. A silver ring with a broad hoop and large circular bezel engraved with an elaborate heraldic composition. The central shield displays a pair of crossed arrows. Above the escutcheon rises a helm and mantling, surmounted by a crest depicting a mythological beast with raised arms grasping a sword. A narrow line border encircles the bezel. Size: D:15.57mm / US: 10 / UK: T 1/2; Weight: 15.59g Provenance: Property of a London Ancient Art Gallery; formerly in the famous Alison Barker collection, a retired London barrister; acquired between the early 1960s to 1990s.
