Lot no. 498
Meissen Art Nouveau figurine group "Three girls playing blind man's buff"
Fully sculpted, scenic depiction of a group playing "Blind Man's Buff" on an irregular base. Standing in the centre is a girl in a white dress with greyish borders accentuated in black, gold and red. Flanking her are two friends in green and floral patterned dresses, supporting her and freeing her from the blindfold. Polychrome painting with gold staffage. Designed by Theodor Eichler, 1905, model no. W 115, minimally damaged; crossed swords mark. H. 26 cm.
Konrad Hentschel's children's figurines from 1904 onwards were extremely realistic models of children and adolescents in a naturalistic habitus, a novelty in Meissen porcelain sculpture. Theodor Eichler, Max Bochmann, Emmerich Oehler and Alfred König also devoted themselves to this subject in numerous thematically similar depictions. The Meissen manufactory acquired the "Blind Cow" group and the roulette players from Eichler.
Cf. Just, Meissen Art Nouveau Porcelain, fig. 72 and pp. 100ff.
