Lot no. 35
Meissen mocha service with "Jägerlatein" decoration for six people. 15 pieces; mocha pot, sugar bowl, cream jug, 6 mocha cups with saucers, 6 cake plates. "Large cut-out" mould. The wall decorated with various hunting scenes, including resting hunters, the goddess of hunting Diana riding a stag, hunters dancing with a doe or riding backwards on a wild boar and aiming at hares or ducks. Accompanied by individual motifs of stags, butterflies and birds. Polychrome overglaze painting with selective gold accents. Designed by Ludwig Zepner. Decor designed by Prof. Heinz Werner, circa 1973. Jug h. 17 cm. Imaginative, cheerfully and amusingly composed decoration. With a broad, sweeping brushstroke, Werner arranges hunters and animals from spots and dots and also sets detailed accents of filigree strokes and gold highlights. The loosely arranged foliage forms reserves in which Heinz Werner arranges his compositions in a central position. In a modern interpretation, he thus draws on Meissen design principles of the 18th century. Cf. painting templates "Blütenreigen" and "Jägerlatein", Staatl. Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen GmbH, p. 25f.; Meissen Konturen 1960 - 1990, p. 82f. A 15-piece porcelain mocha set "Jägerlatein" ("Hunter's Latin") after designs by Prof. H. Werner. Form designed by L. Zepner. Crossed swords mark. Meissen. After 1973.
