Meissen teapot with a view of Venice harbour and a purple background A quatrefoil oval domed body with gadrooned walls, tubular spout and rocaille handles. Fitted domed lid with pine finial. Purple-coloured ground covering the entire surface. The front with a view of the harbour of Venice with imposing palazzi architecture, sailing boats and courtly figures. Probably after engravings by Melchior Küsel after J. W. Baur. Verso in corresponding cartouche with courtiers looking at a church in a wide landscape. Landscape and merchant scenes on the lid. Polychrome painting with subtle gold decoration. Minimally restored; marked; crossed swords mark. H. 14 cm.
