The Master of the Morrison Triptych is the name given to a Dutch painter of the early 16th century who was named after the painting of an enthroned Madonna and Child, which was once part of the collection of the English textile manufacturer Alfred Morrison at Fonthill House in Wiltshire and is now in the Toledo Museum of Art. Stylistic influences of the Antwerp painter Quentin Massys (1466-1530), as whose pupil the master of the Morrison triptych was considered in part, cannot be overlooked, as can certain similarities to the oeuvre of Hans Memling (around 1433-1494). The composition offered here is also known in Memling's oeuvre, such as the panel of a diptych from around 1480-90, which is now in the Pinakothek in Munich (inv. no. 680). The master of the Morrison triptych could possibly be identified with the painter Simon of Haarlem (active 1501-1529), who ran a respected workshop in Antwerp around 1510 and also supplied works to Spain.
