Beautiful mother-of-pearl in the shape of a crescent moon, with iridescent reflections and coated in red ochre. The band is made of plant fibres and cypraea shells are attached to it. In Papuan societies, these and other tribal symbols can also be used as currency. This giant pearl oyster is used to harmonise social relations, pacify conflicts or strengthen alliances. Size: 21x20 cm.
