The Histoire civile ou consulaire de la ville de Lyon presents the first critical history of Lyon in which everything is reconsidered on the basis of material remains: ruins, inscriptions and coins, images of which are integrated into the text, as well as manuscript documents (registers, contracts, memoirs, privileges) transcribed in an appendix called the Preuves de l'histoire.
