The Compagnie de la Belle Table was founded on 22 April 1947 on the initiative of Georges Villa and Curnonsky. The companions met seven times a year and published their dinner menu, illustrated on the front page with an original signed engraving or lithograph created especially for the occasion. The print run was limited to 106 copies on fine paper until the 79th dinner, after which the print run was 86 copies. The Compagnie de la Belle Table was dissolved after the death of its President, Georges Villa, and the hundredth and last dinner was held in 1966 in his honour.
