This is considered to be the original edition, only 3 copies of the first having been printed in Biarritz. This edition was printed in 129 copies. This rather light-hearted short story was dedicated under pseudonym to the Empress Eugénie. A trial copy, printed without Bracquemond's vignette on the title, with Poulet-Malassis's initials on the blank cover - A fine copy.
