MEROVINGIAN GILDED SILVER BOW BROOCH WITH GARNET. Ca. AD 600. A gilded silver bow brooch with a flaring headplate embellished with red and green inlays set within a raised border. Three rounded knobs extend from the headplate, each inset with a circular red inlay. A raised and curved bow with a central ridge connects the headplate to the footplate with an almond-shaped garnet set within a raised border and framed by additional ridges. It terminates in a trefoil finial set with circular garnet inlays.
