MEROVINGIAN GOLD PENDANT WITH GARNET INLAID. Ca. AD 400 - 600. A gold pendant with a circular flat body and a suspension loop at the top. The front face is decorated with a cloisonné design, consisting of a central green inlay set within a quatrefoil-shaped gold partition. Surrounding this, four garnet inlays are fitted within individual compartments, each bordered by thin gold walls. Size: 17.4mm x 14.2mm; Weight: 3.84g Provenance: Property of a London Ancient Art Gallery; formerly in the famous Alison Barker collection, a retired London barrister; acquired between the early 1960s to 1990s.
