MERRILL Stuart (1863-1915). 12 autograph letters to Paul Fort mounted in a vol. in-8 half fawn morocco with wide corners, cold fillet, ribbed spine, gilt head (Semet et Plumelle). The correspondence, which runs from 1910 to November 1912, is imbued with the friendship that reigned between the two writers. Note the humour with which Merrill congratulates his friend on his election as Prince of Poets: "My dear Paul, I am not waiting for the official proclamation in Gil Blas to greet you as Prince of Poets. It is obvious that you have been elected with flying colours, and I am delighted, even though I voted for Verhaeren, not only because of his merits, but also because of his age...". - Ex-libris Albert Natural.
