MESMER (Franz Anton). Aphorismes. Paris, M. Quinquet, 1785. In-12, grey paper boards, untrimmed (pastiche binding). One of three editions published in the year of the original, this one with approval. Compiled by Mesmer's pupils from his lectures and discussions, this collection of 344 aphorisms designed to promote the practice of animal magnetism was edited by one of his close disciples, Caullet de Veaumorel. Bound with : Part of the Essay on the Discovery of Animal Magnetism omitted in the edition that was made of this Essay (1 f.); Essay on the Discovery of Animal Magnetism [and] Letter to Mr Mesmer, by Mr Galart de Montjoie.
