MESOPOTAMIAN CREAM STONE SHELL AMULET.

A cream-coloured stone amulet carved in the form of a shell with an elongated tapering body and rounded end, the exterior cut with a series of broad spiral grooves. The narrow terminal is pierced for suspension.
Size: 46mm x 13mm; Weight: 12g.
Provenance: Private London collection of an Ancient Art dealer; Formerly in a central London family collections 1990s; Suggested to be examined by Professor Wilfrid George Lambert FBA (1926-2011), historian, archaeologist, and specialist in Assyriology and Near Eastern archaeology, in the late 1980s and early 1990s.; ex. 1970s/early80s UK art market.
