PIECE OF FURNITURE WITH TWO GLAZED DOORS, STAMPED E.LEVASSEUR FOR ÉTIENNE LEVASSEUR, LOUIS XVI PERIOD in gilt bronze, ebony, brown tortoiseshell and brass veneer decorated with a Boulle marquetry of palms and foliage in reserves. The upper crosspiece and the outline of the glass section are adorned with a frieze of foliage, while the lower crosspiece is decorated with gadroons. It stands on ringed feet. Granite top With sworn hallmark (Cracks on the sides, accidents and missing parts) A MEUBLE 'A DEUX VANTAUX', STAMPED E.LEVASSEUR FOR ÉTIENNE LEVASSEUR, LOUIS XVI PERIOD 105,50 x 89 x 46,50 CM - 41,5 x 35 x 18,3 IN. Étienne Levasseur (1721-1798), awarded the title of master on 17 December 1766, was a first-rate cabinetmaker. A pupil of a son of André-Charles Boulle, he later moved to rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine. Levasseur worked extensively for the Crown and received commissions for Versailles, Fontainebleau and Saint-Cloud. He also supplied the Count of Artois for his Hôtel du Temple and the Ladies, daughters of Louis XV, for the Château de Bellevue.
