Miniature vase with "Yellow Lion" decoration from the "Royal Court Confectionery" Baluster-shaped body, merging into a narrow neck. Yellow lion (or tiger) on the front, coiling around a blue bamboo stick. Blossoming prunus branches on the back. Polychrome painting with capuchin brown outline. Inscribed "K.H.C." in purple on the base. Remainder; crossed swords mark. H. 6 cm. The "Yellow Lion" service, modelled on the East Asian kakiemon, is one of the first for the court of Augustus the Strong. Vases of this type are mentioned from 1738 onwards. In 1744, it reads: "Two hundred and five and ninety flower pots, wide-necked without Henckel, (...) with yellow lions and marked K. H. C. on the bottom". Cf. Restored. Crossed swords with K.H.C. mark in purple. Meissen. Circa 1745.
