Ministry of War. Recueil de toutes les Troupes qui forment les Armées françaises, dessiné et illuminé d'a rès nature, de Anno 1762. [Paris], [Paul Roulleau], [1959]. In-folio (330 x 244 mm) of 46 pages, half white vellum with small corners, smooth spine, ochre title-piece, paper boards decorated with blue crosses around red fleurs-de-lis, untrimmed, edges gilt on witnesses (modern binding). Manuscript copy of the original, kept in the library of the Ministry of War under no. A.I.J.15, describing the uniforms of all the troops in Louis XV's armies. It comprises a title page, a summary page and 44 hand-coloured plates showing the design and distinctive colours of more than 200 uniforms, some with silver highlights, as well as the date of creation, rank, name of the colonel and number of battalions and companies in each regiment. The words "ce recueil contient 46 feuillets moins le 22e enlevé, trois feuillets blancs (47-48-49) et le 50e qui est l'ordre de bataille de l'armée de M. de Soubise", which can be read on the second leaf, are indeed found on the original manuscript. The publisher and date are restored according to the Brown University Library record. A fine copy of this very rare manuscript copy.
