Minna Pfüller (1824 Berlin - 1907 Berlin-Zehlendorf) Madonna Colonna A copy of Raphael's famous Madonna Colonna (ca. 1507-1508) in the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin (since 1827 in the Königliches Museum in Berlin), executed in a finely glazed style. The Berlin portrait and miniature painter Minna Pfüller studied under the portrait painters Karl Tschirner (ca. 1805 - ca. 1857), a pupil of Karl Wilhelm Wach and Johann Samuel Otto (1798 - 1878), who was a teacher at the Berlin Academy of Arts and was appointed royal professor in 1844. In 1842, Pfüller made her debut at the Berlin Academy Exhibition, which she also attended in 1844-1852, 1860 and 1870. Pfüller was highly esteemed at the Prussian court for her experienced, artistically high-quality portraits of royalty: in 1858-1881 she was commissioned by the royal and crown princely family to create a series of 9 portraits, which went to Queen Victoria of England (still in the Royal Collection today); in 1859-1864 she was commissioned by the royal court in the Berlin City Palace to produce, among other things, copies of portraits of the royal family. Between 1859 and 1864 she executed copies of portraits of King William I of Prussia and Queen Augusta after Winterhalter, which are now in the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg.
