MINOAN BANDED AGATE INTAGLIO IN GOLD MOUNT.
Ca. 1600 - 1400 BC
A banded agate intaglio of elongated oval form engraved on one face with a tall double axe flanked by two swords. Mounted as a swivel in a possibly later gold pendant setting, the stone is pierced lengthwise and held on a transverse wire passing through a curved frame with knobbed terminals and a scroll element above, leading to a pair of interlinked suspension rings.
