He received special inspiration in Mexico. With their black outlines his works form a mixture of cartoon-like drawings and figurative painting. The flat representations feature patterns and structures of human figures that recall caricatures. Moreover, influences of Max Beckmann, George Grosz and the German Expressionism can be found in his oeuvre.Condition: The work is in very good condition. A long woodchip has solved on the right rear side of the frame.Antonio Segui (b. 1934) Born in Córdoba, Antonio Seguí studied painting and sculpture at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid and at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts. Then he returned to his homeland and worked in the editorial of the magazine ‘Orientación’. In 1957 he had his first solo exhibition. In Mexico, he became familiar with the graffiti art. In 1963 he went to Paris, where he still lives and works today. In 1967 he was awarded the art prize of the city of Darmstadt. Works by the artist are in the collections of the Kunsthalle Darmstadt, the Museu de Arte Contemporânea, São Paulo, as well as the Museum of Modern Art and the Solomon R.
