MODEL OF A “DELFT NOIR” SHOE - The Embden Collection
Delft, ca. 1700–24.
Faience model with a pointed shape on a high curved heel and a buckle in relief. With a black-lacquered glaze, in the style of Chinese “famille-noir,” painted with polychrome enamel colors with bouquets of flowers in green, blue, yellow, and accentuated in white and iron-red. Without a mark.
H 12 cm, L 14 cm.
Loss to the glaze and minor restoration.
