"We had lunch with Claude Monet, who was very happy to have your visit," he remarks, before announcing that he had left 25 litres of petrol at the Boumères Town Hall and asking him to "tell Monet to come and take 15 litres, and to tell the great artist Pierre Bonnard [...] that 10 litres are at his disposal", as this would be doing them a great service. "If you had the time, go and see Pierre Bonnard, he is a young man, but certainly the most talented artist at the moment, and an exquisite man too.
