First editions. The rare supplement appeared thirteen years after the first volume with another publisher. For the first volume of 1857, one of the 30 first copies printed on Hollande laid paper, that of the author with his bookplate engraved by Devambez: Livres amoncelés (a pun on Livres à Monselet). The second volume was printed in 1870 in a small number, all on Hollande laid paper. A very fine, choice copy, from Victor Mercier (1853-1932), honorary president of the Cour de Cassation, Henri Béraldi's successor as president of the Société des Amis des Livres, with his art-nouveau bookplate in colour.
