Uncommon edition, printed in small type, decorated with a burin-engraved title-frontispiece by Edme Charpy and a portrait by Thomas de Leu; accompanied by a quatrain attributed to Pierre de Brach. The edition, shared between five Parisian booksellers, follows the text of the Essays published by Abel L'Angelier, thus passing from the booksellers of the Palais to the booksellers of the University.
