New edition of the Essais by Eloi Johanneau in an elegant Restoration binding (c. 1820). The edition is illustrated with a medallion portrait of the author, after Alexandre Tardieu and engraved by C. Hulot, on the title page of the first volume. "The printing is meticulous and the paper of a fine quality" (Brunet). Apart from some foxing, a very fine copy, elegantly bound.
