The interplay of multi-layered inlays in black lacquer and geometric lines in platinum plating symbolise the complex relationships between the characters in his masterpiece. "The Buddenbrooks", for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1929. The rhodium-plated 18 K gold nib features a filigree engraving of the Buddenbrook house, a reminder of Thomas Mann's birthplace in Lubeck. Fountain pen numbered 3906/12000.
