Watch concealed in a mandolin shape in 18k (750 thousandths) yellow gold decorated with half-pearls, probably natural, and transparent red enamel over guilloché. The strings are made of gold wire connected to the pegs (the tailpiece needs to be soldered). The circular opening is covered with a curved glass revealing the watch movement. The sound box is decorated all around with a finely painted score entitled Paul et Virgin(ie). The neck is elegantly enamelled with red guilloché and black enamel touches. The case back is decorated with an engraved flower, none other than a violet and yellow pansy - the language of flowers was commonplace in the 19th century. Manual mechanical movement with key (present). Movement with verge escapement. Enamel dial with Arabic numerals and 15-minute division. Case back numbered 2062. Very good condition, small missing enamel and glass. Functional at time of appraisal. Gross weight: 20.4 g.
