Lot no. 13
Concealed watch in 18k (750 thousandths) yellow gold in the shape of a beetle with transparent intense green enamel elytra over guilloché and highlighted with rose-cut diamonds, mainly from Brabant, a few touches of black enamel on the pronotum and head. The elytra open by pushing on the tail, revealing the watch face and the upper part of the abdomen, which is engraved at the tip. A decoration of striations decorated with circles highlights the sides and continues under the abdomen where the hind legs are welded and folded. The eyes are made of natural rubies. The hoop is enamelled in champlevé black and dark blue (small chip). Owl hallmark. The hallmark is partial and not legible. Excellent condition of the decoration. Manual mechanical movement. Enamel dial with blue and red coloured numerals. Minute divisions in gold dotted lines. Cylinder escapement. Very good condition. Not functional. Circa 1890. Gross weight: 28.9 g.
