Limited edition of 335 numbered copies, this being one of the numbered copies of the main print run on Lafuma-Navarre pur fil to which has been added an original drawing by the artist signed lower right, dated 1947 with a letter to the politician Monique Midy (1930-2016) lower left. Carco's text is illustrated with black hors-texte plates on a tinted background by Luc-Albert Moreau (1882-1948), a friend of André Dunoyer de Segonzac and a member of the Bande noire and Section d'or groups. Mobilised during the First World War, he was seriously wounded and produced the Suite de Guerre, a series of striking drawings. After the war, he devoted himself to lithography and wrote the famous Physiologie de la boxe. In 1925, he bought a house in Saint-Tropez with artist friends and became friends with Maurice Ravel and Colette. The beautiful binding is not signed; it is nevertheless very well established.
