TREE OF LIFE" MOSAIC offering on the left a labyrinth of two-tone interlacing patterns. On the right, a curved reserve represents a bird resting on the bends of a vine in fruit. Coloured tesserae on a background of beige tesserae. Early Christian art, 4th century A.D. 170 x 145 x 4 cm (Mounted with lime mortar on an aluminium aluminium honeycomb support) PROVENANCE - Former S. Dalati Collection, Stuttgart (Germany). - Private collection. The two-tone interlacing of the laces of the labyrinths can be compared with numerous Early Christian mosaics from the 4th and 5th centuries centuries, such as the one currently on display in the church of Saint Saturnin in Antony, which was originally from a church in northern Syria.
